Original watercolor painting of a Marbled Murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus), an endangered seabird from the North Pacific. The nesting behavior of marbled murrelets was unknown until the 1970s, when it was discovered that they fly several miles inland to nest high up in the canopy of old-growth trees in the forests of the Pacific Northwest.
